Selena Melvin

Selena Melvin is the Coordinator for Battle Creek College Access Network and she wants to make education after high school a reality for all students. "I want to create a college-going culture, by nurturing and guiding students of all ages through high school graduation, and then providing the support and resources to make college accessible and achievable for those students," she said. Battle Creek CAN provides the over-arching framework for college access in our community, and includes programs like Legacy Scholars and the Promise Zone. Battle Creek CAN will gather all the available resources for students into one coordinated place, making it easier for students, families and schools to locate resources and assistance.

Selena comes to Battle Creek CAN from EduGuide in Lansing, where she was the Director of Training. Prior to her work with EduGuide, Selena worked for more than a decade as a teacher at many different levels.
